OLX recently introduced featured ads which give your ad maximum exposure and greater visibility.

You can purchase featured ads in any category and each category has its own pricing and duration.

To purchase featured ads all you need are your debit card or credit card details and once payment has been confirmed you will receive credits which you can then use to purchase the package which best suits your needs.

One OLX Credit is equal to R1, and you can choose from three packages: Plus, Super or Premium. Each package has a duration starting from 3 days up to 30 days depending on the category you post your ad.

To get your featured ads today simply visit OLX via desktop and post your ad.

OLX Credits

What are OLX Credits?
OLX Credits are the virtual currency used on the platform used to pay for Featured Ads.

What can I do with them?
You can feature your ads and boost their visibility with OLX Credits. One OLX Credit equals one rand.

How can I receive them?
OLX Credits can be bought on OLX using your credit or debit card. Or you can get rewarded with OLX Credits if you complete certain tasks.

Do Credits expire?
Yes, OLX Credits expire within 6 months. Tap on the (?) icon, next to the expiration date, to see more. Please read the Ts and Cs here.

What payment methods are available on OLX?
You can pay online with all major credit and debit cards that are verified by Visa and MasterCard MasterCode (collectively known as 3D Secure).

Can I also pay with a debit card if I select “Pay with card”?
Yes, if your debit card supports online purchases.

Is it safe to use my credit card? Is my information secure?
OLX is committed to ensuring that your personal details will be kept safe at all times and has a number of fraud prevention measures in place. You will be asked to provide information to verify that your card is not being used fraudulently online.

Pricing and Packages

What packages are available?
There are three options. The Premium, Super and Plus.

Premium gives you up to ten times more views in 30 days and stand out thanks to the shooting star badge.
Super gives you up to five times more views in 15 days and stands out because of the star badge.
Plus gives you up to three times more views in 9 days and are highlighted with an aqua bar.

What pricing options are available?

How long can I feature my ads?
It depends on each category and which Featured Ads option you choose, but generally, you can feature your ads for 3 days up to 30 days.

How will I know how many days are left of my Featured Ad?
There will be a status bar on your ad showing you how many days remain. The status bar is only visible to you, not buyers.

How to get Featured Ads

Featured Ads are the new way to get maximum exposure and greater visibility for your ads. You can simply pay for Feature Ads with OLX Credits, the new virtual currency on the OLX platform. Please note that Featured Ads are currently only available on the website. But watch this space to find out when it will be available on the app!

Follow these easy steps to get started.

  1. Log into OLX on the desktop (watch this space to find out when it’s available on the app too!)
  2. Go to your profile
  3. Under your profile details, you’ll find My OLX Credits
  4. Click on Buy Credits
  5. Select the OLX Credit bundle you prefer and enter your card payment details. (1 OLX Credit = R1)
  6. Now you’re ready to rock and roll! Click on Done and select the ad you want to feature.
  7. Choose from 3 Featured Ad options: Premium, Super and Plus.
  8. When the Featured Ad is live, a new section appears next to your ad that shows you how many days are remaining of your Featured Ads.

Payment FAQs

Why do you need my card security code (CVV)?
We ask for the security code from your payment card to prevent the fraudulent use of your account. This is printed on your card but is not embossed or in the magnetic strip, so only the person in possession of the card should know the code.

What does Verified by VISA and Mastercard SecureCode (collectively known as 3D Secure) mean?
These are schemes that have been introduced by card issuers to help in the fight against online fraud and OLX is now participating in these schemes along with a growing number of merchants. To verify your transaction you will be asked to enter your 3D Secure password. If you haven’t already done so, you will need to register for ‘Verified by Visa’ and ‘Mastercard SecureCode’ with your debit/credit card issuer. You can register either by visiting the card issuer’s website directly or simply by placing an order online. You will automatically be referred to your card issuer’s website to register during the checkout process. If you encounter problems with registration, please contact your card issuing bank directly. Once you have registered, whenever you shop online with any retailer that shows the ‘Verified by Visa’ and ‘Mastercard SecureCode’ logos, you will have one more step in the shopping process. You will be taken to their debit/credit card issuers’ website to enter your password before you are returned to the checkout to complete the purchase. This ensures that only the person who enters the correct password should be able to shop online using your card.

How can I confirm that a payment has been made?
After a payment is processed, you will be taken to a confirmation screen that will let you know if your payment was processed successfully or if there was a problem processing your payment. In case of a successful transaction, we will issue an invoice which you can find in a user area. You should also see a transaction in your bank account transaction history.

Where can I find a list or history of all my payments on OLX?
This can be found under “My OLX Credits” in the section “Transaction History”. You will find a list of your payments on OLX, including the following information: date of payment, type of purchased item and paid amount.

How do I retrieve my invoice?
The copy of all invoices are available in your profile under the section “Manage Billing”, “Invoices”. You will find a list of all the invoices, including the following information: date of an invoice, invoice number, number of purchased credits. All the invoices can be downloaded.

How do I change my billing details?
You can change your billing details in your profile under the section “Manage Billing”, “Billing information”.

Payment Troubleshooting

My credit or debit card number isn’t accepted or is declined
OLX will only decline a transaction on the advice of your issuing bank. It may be that you have insufficient funds in your account, that your card has been blocked because of unusual or suspicious activity, or that the details you have provided do not match those held by your issuing bank.

Try the following solutions:

  • Enter the card number correctly. Do not enter spaces or dashes. If your card has a security code, enter it correctly on the payment screen.
  • Make sure that the name and billing address on your order matches the name and billing address on your card. If you use a corporate card, use the name and billing address of the cardholder, not the purchaser. Check with the cardholder or your accounting department to verify the name and billing address.
  • Check the expiry date on your card. Make sure that the credit card hasn’t expired.
  • Make sure that you haven’t exceeded your credit limit or there are sufficient funds on your card.
  • Contact your financial institution to ensure that you haven’t exceeded your credit limit, or check your bank balance if it’s a debit card. Make sure that the card is in good standing and that your card supports online transactions.
  • Is it a debit card? Make sure it supports online purchases.

What happens if I fill out the card form with wrong data?
You will receive an error message and be asked to enter the data as specified on the card.
Do not enter spaces or dashes. If your card has a security code, enter it correctly on the payment screen.

What happens if I enter a wrong CVV / CVC code more than 1 time?
Please enter all data as specified on your card. Multiple wrong entries of card details (CVV / CVC is such a detail) can lead to your card being blocked by your issuing bank.

I have followed all the steps in the payment flow, but my feature was not activated. What can I do?
This means that something went wrong. If you haven’t received any notification about whether your payment was successful or that your ad is still under review, please contact the OLX customer support.

How can I cancel the payment before checking out?
If you have started the payment flow, but would like to cancel it, you can go back to the feature selection page on OLX (or to OLX via the “back arrows” in the browser / the application).
You can restart a new payment flow by clicking “pay” on the feature selection page on OLX.

What do I do if I don’t agree with the invoice?
Please send us a request with that clearly explains what you disagree with in the invoice via the contact form.

What if the VAT amount shown on the invoice is wrong?
VAT amount is already included in the price and is shown on the invoice as a subtotal /total inclusive VAT. You can see VAT rate and the relevant amount which is an inclusive price. If the VAT calculation is wrong on the invoice, please contact customer service via the form.

Refunds

How do I reverse a payment or get a refund?
Refunds will only be processed if a payment was made wrongfully, i.e you were charged more than once for the same feature.

Why does OLX only refund to the same payment card?
It is a condition of the card schemes (VISA, Mastercard) that all refunds must be processed onto the same card as the original payment was made in order to help reduce fraudulent activity on cards. OLX must comply fully with all card scheme rules in order to be able to accept these card types.

I have paid more than once for the same feature. How can I get my money back?
Please contact the OLX customer support. Please provide proof that the payment was done more than once for the same feature and keep the transaction ID ready.
